Sweet Chestnut, Tamme Kastanje, Castanea sativa. Cowdray park, UK.


A Tall and old Sweet Chestnut. In a field of an estate park. Girth at least 10 meter. Made: 23-05-'09. 

Eik, Oak, Quercus robur. Goodwood house, UK.

An Oak grown in the way she likes. She grows on a big estate annex PoloField. Girth at least 8 meter. There are also Old Sweet chestnuts and Cedars on the field.

An old short Sweet Chestnut. Girth at least 6 meter. Standing on the estate Goodwood house. Made: 25-05-'09. 

Beech Avenue, Beuken Allee. Fagus sylvatica. Blandford Forum, UK.

GPS: 50°49'29.73"N, 2°3'40.01"W.


The Beech Avenue of 731 trees planted in 1835. Amazing to drive through. The B3082 from Wimbourne towards Blandford Forum, Dorset. It runs allong the Iron age hillfort Badbury Rings. The Romans use this road to cross the country. Video made on 27-05-'09. 

Martyr Tree, Sycamore, Esdoorn. Acer Platanoides. Tolpuddle, UK.

Under this tree 6 laboures held a meeting and want to form a union against the cut of their wages and the poverty. They were betrayed and put in jail, and send for Transportation to Tasmania for 7 years. That's the reason the tree is named Martyr tree. Made: 28-059-'09. 

Yew, Taxus, Venijnboom, Taxus baccata. Woolland, Blandford Forum, UK.

A wonderful ancient old yew. Standing on a churchyard. With the girth of 10 it is an amazing tree. The tree is 2000 years old. An organisation called: The Yew Tree Campain has certify that. Made: 29-05-'09. 

Swamp Cypres and Tulip Tree. UK.

GPS: 50°47'52.90"N, 1°59'13.39"W.


An very high and old Swamp Cypres/Taxodium distichum. Girth:5,10 meter. And next to it an old Tulip tree. Liriodendron tulipiferum. Both planted in 1603. Made: 31-05-'09. 

Branscombe Walnut, Walnoot, Juglans regia. Branscombe, Devon, UK.

A very old and amazing walnut, leaning on a dry stone wall by this farm. Now a B&B. Superb! I think the tree is at least 400 years old. Made: 03-06-'09. 

Horse chestnut, Paardenkastanje, Aesculus hippocastanum. Hurstbourne priors, Andover, UK.

An old Horse Chestnut. Standing in a meadow behind an old church. The bigest in England (so they say). He is gigantic indeed. Girth of 8 meter (more or less). Made 07-06-'09.

Two Lime trees, what look likes one tree... Standing on a field with a troop of horses. The trees growing in a natural way. Made: 07-06-'09.

A newly discovered old Yew. I Didn't found this tree is all my tree books. Girth more than 11 meter. Standing on a peaceful and quiet ground. And his age, I think, most certainly more than 1000 years. Made: 07-06-'09.

On a chalky slope is an Old Yew wood standing next to the box shrubs and trees... On a special place in Norbury Park: Druids grove. Norbury Park is situated N-W of Dorking and W of Westhumble (in Westhumble follow the dead end street Crabtree). Made: 08-06-'09.

A piece of Box wood in a place called Druids grove in Norbury Park. Box or Buxus, is a very slow grower, so very dense wood. All these box trees are more than 100 years old!. Norbury Park is situated N-W of Dorking and W of Westhumble (in Westhumble follow the dead end street Crabtree). Made: 08-06-'09.

A London plane tree, standing next to the Canterbury Cathedral. A abnormal growth of the trunk. Fatty trunk and then slender branches on top it... Made: 09-06-'09.

A Wonderful, amazing huge Oak. Girth 11,5 meter. We never seen, Such an Oak. SO powerful, so Proud standing upright..... Standing on a privet property/estate.

The last sunset of England before we are going home.... Unfortunately... It was good to be here. Beautiful Country and County. Wonderful old, ancient trees. Amazing nice, smal village and friendly people. We are not finished here... ;-)
